Priestess Barbara is a writer, singer, musician, and human rights activist. She wrote and is the sole performer of each of the songs in PriestessCraft. As a human rights activist, she has presented acceptable modifications to the Human Rights Commission in San Francisco. She wrote a letter to the City of Berkeley which initiated a human rights bill that will ultimately award $2500 to any prevailing plaintiff who has been denied equal rights to housing, employment, or public accommodations. The bill strives to support every group that might be a victim of discrimination. She gave a speech on the corruption and brutality that existed in the Oakland Police Department in December of 2003 which resulted in an investigation into internal affairs of OPD. Fourteen months later, Police Chief Ward of Oakland resigned. Three months later a television story was done on how some police officer misconduct had not been properly investigated.
